Cathy Jean Barnum, a mother of three boys, was 33 years old when she went missing on December 6, 1994. Cathy's body was discovered four months later, on April 5, near the Amarillo airport, where it had been dumped. According to forensic records, she died as a result of strangulation.
Her husband, Barak Lee Barnum, was found guilty of her murder. He was found guilty of this heinous crime not once, but twice. Under Texas law, he was sentenced to 40 years in prison. On January 3, 2016, he will be eligible for parole.
